The Founder
My name is Kenneth Davis and I live in Maryland with my wife and children. I have been blessed and fortunate to see many things in my lifetime. I have had the opportunity to meet a host of celebrities, elected officials, and a former President at the White House in the Oval office. The one thing that I want to see most of all in my lifetime is a cure for cancer.
The birth place of the Quest is in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where twelve years ago I stood by and helplessly watched as a beloved family member, who was also my closest friend, lost her fight against cancer while in the prime of her life. The disease cruelly stole another life in the process: that of her unborn child. My inability to stop the cancer and save them was maddening. My vision of the Quest was born from this tragedy and has been shaped over the past decade. Never again will I stand idly by as cancer takes life after precious life.
My desire to take extreme action gained momentum over the years. The idea of the Quest became my passion and a daily obsession. There have been many people along the way who have encouraged this initiative. There are others who think we are crazy to attempt this feat. How far would you go to help a friend? To save a child? To find a cure? The Quest 40 Team will go around the world to help find that cure.
Children who have cancer or other catastrophic illnesses teach us lessons through the bravery they demonstrate each morning as they open their eyes to a new day filled with uncertainty. Yet, they optimistically and courageously face the challenges that confront them. The Quest is my purpose. I want happiness for all children because they deserve it. We owe it to them to find a cure and eradicate cancer.
