Jamie Moyer
Jamie Moyer is co-founder of The Moyer Foundation, father of seven, and World Series-winning Major League All-Star pitcher. Jamie joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006 after a ten year career with the Seattle Mariners where he holds the record as most winning pitcher in Mariners history. In 2008, Jamie helped lead the team to a World Series Championship. Jamie completed his college degree from Indiana University in 1996, after attending St. Joseph’s University where he was one of the first three inductees in the St. Joseph’s Baseball Hall of Fame and the first-ever retired number.
Jamie is as well known for his success on the field as he is for his philanthropic efforts off the field on behalf of The Moyer Foundation. The Moyer Foundation was founded in 2000 by Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen. The Foundation’s mission is to provide comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress. With the community’s support, The Moyer Foundation has raised more than $16 million to assist over 170 different non-profit organizations that serve the needs of children in severe distress. In addition to supporting organizations through grants, The Moyer Foundation created and funds Camp Erin, the largest national network of bereavement camps for children and teens; Camp Mariposa, for children affected by addiction in their families; and supports many community partnerships like The Gregory Fund (in partnership with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center) for early cancer-detection research.
Jamie is humbled and honored by the many awards and honors he has received in recognition of his charitable efforts including the National Sports Philanthropy Award, Roberto Clemente Award, Lou Gehrig Award, and the Branch Rickey Humanitarian Award. Jamie looks forward to continuing his work with the Seattle-based foundation for many years to come.
“Children inspire us every day to do what we do at The Moyer Foundation. The tremendous support of the community allows us to keep making kids lives better not only today but for a long time. Every kid deserves a chance at a good life and the opportunity to smile, and The Moyer Foundation helps make this happen.”
